New 0.6.6 Release Coming Soon
2009-12-14
I've been making improvements and bug-fixes to Alexandria recently, with the goal of putting out another maintenance release (version 0.6.6) around the Winter Solstice. Some of the changes include:
- New Rakefile (with re-written install and new uninstall tasks. Brand new Debianization for deb package.
- A new libmarc-ruby deb package, to make it easier for users to get Z39.50 support. (I've also packaged the latest version of libhpricot-ruby at the Alexandria PPA since the version in Ubuntu Karmic is buggy.
- Book providers are now turn-off-and-onable. No longer search through all the irrelevant providers when an ISBN isn't found. Makes for easier testing for developers as well.
- Dozens of bugfixes since 0.6.5, I've been tracking them somewhat informally on my wiki if you want to get an overview of the current status. I'll be closing these bugs on the tracker over the next few days.
If you'd like to test the latest alpha-quality release, please add the Alexandria PPA to your sources list on Debian systems, or grab the latest code from the alexandria subversion repository.
Please back up your Alexandria data before trying the new version; the files are in the .alexandria subdirectory of your home directory.
If you have any issues with the alpha release, please discuss it on the mailing-list or report it as a bug. Do read the FAQ first, of course.
